John spent the last four years at MassMutual, first leading the Large Case Unit as Director of Underwriting before being promoted to Chief Life Underwriter. Before that, his career included nearly eight years at Aviva Life Insurance and a long tenure as Chief Underwriter of the COLI division at AXA/Equitable.

Advisors know John as the person who can look at a complicated case and figure out what needs to happen. He has worked enough cases over the years to recognize patterns that others miss, and he knows how to work with carriers to get deals done. His reputation comes from being someone people trust to give them a straight answer.

At M+, John works alongside our team to support clients and their advisors through underwriting decisions. He’s based in North Carolina, where he and his wife, Melissa, have been married for 33 years.
