Dillon Szmala

Dillon Szmala learned early how much a financial decision can shape a family’s future. When his grandparents passed away, they left a hundred thousand dollars in life savings to his parents, entrusted to a stockbroker who whittled it down to eleven thousand. Watching that happen stuck with him. It motivated him to build a career helping people protect what they’ve worked for.

As a Partner at M+, Dillon is known for helping business owners solve complex tax challenges as they strive to keep more for their families. He enjoys simplifying strategies that often feel overwhelming, prioritizing education so they leave every conversation feeling more confident in their decisions.

Born and raised on Long Island, Dillon recently moved to Rochester with his wife. He describes his life as built on three pillars: faith, family, and fitness, whether that’s Sunday church, morning workouts, or family dinners spanning four generations. He and his family often escape to their beach condo in Florida, and time with his daughter is at the center of it all. Dillon also grew up in his mother’s Long Island beauty salon (he jokes he had fifteen grandmothers) and later served on the board of Mondays at Racine, a nonprofit connected to the salon that provides complimentary beauty services to people undergoing cancer treatment. Those experiences reinforced a belief that the greatest impact comes from serving others well, especially during life’s most important moments.
